21 May 2013 New Lighting
On 21 May 2013 new light fixtures were installed in the Lodge Room. The old Mogul 300 watt bulbs were replaced with T8 fixtures. There is now a lot more light in the Lodge Room.
Track lighting is still to be installed in the East.

Fish Dinners are Over!

Tonight was the last night of serving Fish Dinners during Lent.
While the members of the Lodge who worked to make these dinners successful had a lot of fun doing so none of us are sad to see that the weekly event is finished for this year.
Probably less than 10 % of our members actually came out and helped. I have not actually compiled a list yet but i do not think we had any more than 11 members show up to help.
It is sad that so few members came to help out their Lodge. A few members did show up and eat!

22 Mar 2013 Fish Dinner Tonight
22 March 2013
Tonight we hosted our 6th of 7 Fish Dinners for Lent.
We served 96 people tonight.
The food was quite tasty and included baked or fried fish, french fries or mac-n-cheese, brownies or cake, coleslaw, ice cream and various drinks.
We asked for a donation of $9.00 for this great meal. Many folks come to each dinner and sit around and have a good time talking with each other.
Those of us who have worked each of these dinners are somewhat glad that we only have one more dinner to go after tonight. We are ready for a Friday night that we do not have to work at the Lodge. Overall we have had a fun time and will likely do this again next year. The group that works each dinner is pretty much the same from dinner to dinner. We would like to have some other members come out and help us out but they seem to be unable or unwilling to so do.
We have one more Fish Dinner scheduled for Good Friday, 29 March 2013. Come out and join us for a fun evening. We have had a fun time working together for this event and we are even making some money to help the Lodge help others in need.
After Good Friday we will hold a Chicken BBQ on 20 April 2013 at the Lodge. It will be cooked by Whiting Family Foods, LLC, which is owned and operated by a Brother Mason.
Later in the year we will have our annual Ox Roast on 03 August 2013.

Wilmington Lodge at Business Expo
On 09 March 2013 Several members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 set up a display table at the New Wilmington Area Business Expo that was held in the Westminster College Gymnasium in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. We passed out information and answered questions.
We did have a lot of people fill out slips of paper in an attempt to win the two Fish Dinner tickets we were giving away. Most people seemed only interested in what we were giving away and never bothered to even look at any other information.
Some folks who live in the town did not even know that a Masonic Lodge existed in town. One person who knew nothing about us only lived a couple hundred yards from the Lodge. Not everyone is observant!
The Expo went from 10 AM until 3 PM.
Those of us who were there had a good time. We will probably do it again next year.

25 Feb 2013 Visit to Ad Lucem Lodge No. 812
Two members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 went to visit Ad Lucem Lodge No. 812 on 25 Feb 2013.
SMG &FJA departed NW about 5 PM and arrived in Oakland by about 6:15 PM. We finally found a parking place and made it into the Pittsburgh Athletic Association building, which is where Ad Lucem Lodge meets.
Ad Lucem Lodge No 812 is one of only two Traditional Observance Lodges in Pennsylvania.
We found this trip to be one of pleasure.

Fish Dinner held 22 Feb 2013
Wilmington Lodge No. 804 Held its Second Lenten Fish Dinner at the Wilmington Masonic Hall on Friday 22 Feb 2013.
We served 117 dinners this evening. We ask for a donation of $9.00 for the meal.
We were given many nice compliments about the food.
We give the eater a choice of Baked or Fried Fish (Cod), coleslaw, brownies, a choice of either French fries or macaroni-n-cheese, ice cream and a variety of drinks.
Nobody should ever go away from a dinner at Wilmington Lodge without being stuffed, unless they choose to so do.
Our dinners are almost always very tasty. We also have a fun time during the dinners.
If you like fish give our Lodge Dinners a try. We will hold these dinners each Friday of Lent including Good Friday during 2013.
Fellow Masons are especially encouraged to come out an help support our Lodge.

Fat Tuesday Party
Wilmington Lodge No. 804 held a Fat Tuesday Party for members and friends this evening. The food was prepared by WM KAG and his family. Masons attending were FJA & GF DSL, JEC & wife & children, JPF & wife, KAG & wife & child, GLH & wife, MTH & wife, and DLW. Guests included DAA and SJ.
The food was very good and probably very fattening in accordance with the concept of Fat Tuesday.
If you were not there you missed a good party. We had a fun evening involving good food and a fun time talking with others.

Today three members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 constructed a "Fish Cooking Shack" on a trailer to be used by our lodge for cooking fish and fries for our Fish Dinners during Lent. JEC, PM, FJA, PM and KAG, WM built this shed today in KAG's dirveway.
The materials and tools used for its construction were donated by the three members who built the shack.
It should work well to help us cook the fish and fries.
Functionality was the prime requirement instead of beauty. Plumb, Level and Square are probably exceeded in its construction, but it should work well. No comments or complaints about the construction will be accepted. Do not even think about it.

School of Instruction was way too Long
School of Instruction
Four members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 attended the 26th Masonic District School of Instruction on 28 January 2013. FJA, SMG, KLM & JCW attended this very long meeting.
The School was way too long but did provide some useful information.
I really hate meetings that take hours to present a few minutes of good information that could be presented via email or a letter.
My time is too valuable to me to spend sitting around for hours for a few tidbits of information that may prove useful.
The meeting far exceeded the ability of my ass to sit still so that my brain could pay close attention. Will I go back for another meeting? Not sure if I will!

Wilmington Lodge 804 Visited Hebron Lodge 575
Last evening five members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 went to Mercer and visited with Hebron Lodge No.575. We departed from our Lodge about 6:50 PM and arrived at Hebron Lodge about 7:05 PM. We enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship. We returned to our Lodge by about 9:40.
The members of Hebron Lodge welcomed us and made us feel at home.

804 to visit 575 on 14 Jan 2013
Some of the members of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 are planning to visit Hebron Lodge No. 575 in Mercer, PA on Monday 14 January 2013. As of 10 AM this date we have four members planning to go on the visit.

10 Jan 2013 Stated Meeting Information
A Stated Meeting of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 was held this evening. The Wilmington Masonic Hall Association met for the Annual Meeting at 6PM before the Stated Meeting of the Lodge. Officers were elected to serve for 2013.
There were 15 members and 4 visitors present at the meeting.
It was decided that the Lodge should have a table at the New Wilmington Business Expo that will be held on 09 March 2013 at the Westminster College Fieldhouse. This will be done to help gain some exposure in the New Wilmington Area.
There will be a Fat Tuesday Party at the Lodge on 12 Feb 2013. Members are encouraged to bring a friend and/or a potential Mason.
Our Lodge will be serving Fish Dinners on each of the Fridays of Lent including Good Friday.
A Chicken Dinner is being planned for sometime in April.
The Ox Roast will be on 03 August 2013.

We need to discuss participating in the New Wilmington Business Expo which will be on 09 March 2013. Perhaps we could benefit from being there. Not sure.
Also I have the form to renew our membership in the New Wilmington Area Chamber of Commerce. I think we should renew. I think the Chamber helped our Lodge have a great Ox Roast and probably helped with our fish dinners.

Lodge Practice on Wednesdays
Wilmington Lodge No. 804 has a weekly practice on most Wednesday evenings. We meet at the Wilmington Masonic Hall about 7:30 PM.
All officers should attend and all members are welcome. Stop in and learn.
